Looking after our environment

Sustainability

NEI and Sustainability

New England Institute is a large regional organisation with legal and social responsibilities to operate in a way that has the least possible impact on our environment. We do this in a number of ways, firstly through environmental initiatives at every campus, as a member of the NSW Government Sustainable Advantage Programme and active involvement in the Australasian Campuses Towards Sustainability group (ACTS).

We also have a responsibility to assist people, communities, businesses and industries to do the same.

Sustainability Advantage Member

Leading By Example

Our policies and programmes are underpinned by sustainability principles, and since 2008 the Institute has been successful in acquiring funding for a large number of energy and water-saving initiatives. In particular, we were able to plan for and have built a Sustainable Learning Centre, a state-of–the-art energy and water efficient, solar passive building which provides a positive learning environment for students.

Learning for Sustainability

We offer a variety of courses across a range of skills and sectors and we are keen to work closely with regional and other businesses and groups in developing specific programmes. For more information please contact us.

Sustainable Namoi Living

New England Institute is a sponsor for the Sustainable Namoi Living (SNL) project. This is all about encouraging the Namoi Catchment community to make changes to live sustainably. Check out their website to find out more about this valuable initiative.
