      NSW Training Awards

The Institute is delighted to announce that two of its students have received a high level recognition for their studies.

On Thursday 13 September David Archer from Tamworth and Megan Williams from Moree will be representing the region at the NSW Training Awards presentation in Sydney.

Megan is one of five finalists in the Trainee of the Year. She completed her CIV in Frontline Management whilst employed by Moree Plains Shire Council and was trained by staff from Inverell Campus. She is now studying for a Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning degree through the University of New England. Megan is an excellent communicator and she has used the skills she acquired during the course in not only the workplace but in other activities she is involved in. These include the Show Society and being a spokesperson for the Barwon Electorate Member of Parliament.

David has won the Motor Traders Association of NSW award for the Top Apprentice in the Vehicle Trades in NSW. He completed his Heavy Vehicle apprenticeship whilst employed by Archer's Mobile Repairs. Looking back on his training experience, David comments; "I am grateful to Tamworth TAFE and my employer for the rewarding opportunities they have provided. Also, I would like to encourage all people who are interested in pursuing a trade, to enrol in an apprenticeship or traineeship with your local TAFE college. I feel confident that if you apply yourself and work hard, you too will receive the many rewards that I have experienced."

How to access the StaffGateway or Staff SharePoint via the DET Portal

If you are external to DET/TAFE network the Staff Gateway and NEI Intranet links are dynamically changed to the DET Portal as these sites are only available internally (on the DET/TAFE network) or externally via the Portal. If you are in DET the links point to the real servers.

The old intranet website ("Staff Gateway") will be migrated and to a new internal website.

The new Internal website "SharePoint Server 2007" allows sections to self manage and maintain their websites directly from their SharePoint websites.

The old Internal Staff Gateway will be archived to http://staffgateway.newengland.tafensw.edu.au and all content will remain but will be inaccessible outside of the TAFE/DET network.

To access the Staff Gateway website from home you will need to

As always the New England ICT helpdesk can assist you between 9AM and 5PM on a weekday.
