Types of Recognition

TYPES OF RECOGNITION


TAFE NSW Credit Transfer


You may be granted recognition (exemption from study) in one of more TAFE NSW unit or competency/module if you have previously successfully studied the same or equivalent unit of competency/modules in TAFE NSW.

Recognition will only be granted after your claim has been verified against your previous results held by TAFE NSW.

National Recognition


You may be granted recognition (exemption from study) in one or more TAFE NSW unit or competency/module if you have previously successfully completed equivalent studies with another education and training provider in Australia. The achievement of an identical (or equivalent) unit of competency and/or whole qualification as part of a training package pathway studied at another Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

Pre-Arranged Recognition


You may also be granted recognition for the completion of previous studies with another educational institution (such as schools, university or Adult & Community Education), which is deemed equivalent to TAFE NSW study (unit of competency/module/course or qualification), and where an authorised recognition arrangement exists.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)


You may be granted recognition (exemption from study) in one or more units/competency/modules for your previous learning or experiences.

RPL may be granted if you provide documentary evidence of work experience and/or life experience and/or previous learning gained in Australia or overseas which shows that you possess the skills and knowledge contained in the TAFE NSW unit of competency/module outcomes.

Recognition of Current Competency (RCC)


This applies where you have already achieved a unit of competency or module in your previous studies and are now required to be re-assessed in one or more units of competency or modules to ensure that competency is being maintained. Evidence of current competency may be relevant in meeting licensing requirements in some industries. Requests for assessment of current competency may be initiated by an employer, by a licensing body or may be specified in a national training package.

Commercial RPL


Commercial recognition for individuals provides a recognition service for up to and including 100% of a TAFE NSW course or qualification or a group of modules/units of competency. A fee set by the Institute applies for this service.
